Is the FX 6300 good enough for gaming and running Photoshop, Eclipse etc?

I am going to assemble a new CPU, the parts that I have decided to get are as follows:

AMD FX 6300
Gigabyte 78LMT-S2
nVidia GTX 750 Ti
8GB Kingston HyperX RAM
1TB WD 7200RPM HDD

I will be running all games at a resolution of - 1600x900.
Apart from games I also use Photoshop and Eclipse.

Would the FX 6300 handle these applications with ease?
I have an i5 - 760 right now with 4GB RAM and an ATI HD 5450.

Another thing I wanted to know is if Windows 8.1 would run fine on the FX 6300 or not?
I've heard a few people complaining about some driver issues or something like that.

Thanks in Advance.

Yes it will be fine. The 6 threads help a lot with multi tasking. I have the processor and have had no isses apart from sub par FPS in a few titles (big MMO's).

The extra 4GB ram will help you the most however.

Since you already have an i5 I would tend to stay with intel. You may notice a drop in performance in your gaming. What motherboard do you currently have?
