I just build a brand new computer and I went with 32 gigs of Corsair Dominator RAM clocked at 2400mhz. In task manager it says it is 1600mhz, but in the bios it says 2400. How do I make sure it is running at 2400mhz?

Solution
download cpu-z and see what it says in there. If its still showing the wrong speed then try this if your using windows 8.1, which im guessing you are since its the only OS that shows ram speed in task manager.

In order for your RAM to operate at 2400, the motherboard needs to be able to support it and the processor needs to run at a speed that allows the proper combination of FSB speed and multiplier to get it to work correctly. All three components need to have the proper characteristics in order to function properly.

Speccy is also useful. Be aware though it shows you single channel speeds so 2400 will show 1200 in Speccy or at least that is what you want to see.

Try setting speed manually through BIOS. Is 2400 stock or is overclockable to 2400?

If XMP is enabled and the rig can run 2400 it will show in CPU-Z (free app) in the memory tab with the frequency being 1200 (+/-) , which is the true freq, since it's DDR (DOUBLE data rate) then take true freq 1200 x 2 = effective or 2400 as your data rate
