Installing New Graphic Card But Getting Black Screen GeForce GT610

Hi everyone,i decided to upgrade my graphics card in my desktop pc with a asus nvidia geforce gt610,but encountered an issue,i installed the card after uninstalling the standard graphics and when turning on the destop pc i got nothing other then a black screen,cant see or do anything..BUT when removing the card and using the vga output on the mother board i get picture again,iv enabled the pci x16 slot from the bios menu too,but still im getting black screen when installing the new card..

My Destop is a HP pavillion a6744uk,running windows 7 64bit,intel core 2 quad q8200 2.33ghz with a 300watt psu

Any help would be greatly appreciated

If you PSU is actually putting out the rated watts then it might work. Many older PSU's as well as many of the no name brand PSU's don't deliver what they claim. The easiest way to check is by borrowing another PSU to try it. You could also try the card in another PC.
