My 8350 is running 4.4 ghz @ 1.284 vcore i see this using with Hw-monitor and cpu-id. Can this be right? it is stable for 15 minutes running prime with a max of 58 celsius
Mb Asus m5a97 evo rev 2.0
I am overcloking with the multiplier alone.

Solution
U r good with those numbers...
Fx 8350 will freez d system only when u'l hit the temps above 75 degree celcius...
And u are only getting 58, its a good oc...
I suggest to run prime95 for at least 25 to 30 minutes, to see if it can handle complex tasks for longer duration...
Good luck..
Select as answer if it satisfies u....

Thanks both of you ;-) I will run prime95 for a longer period of time tomorrow. I'm not sure if there is a reason to go beyond 4.4 performance wise, I am only using the fx 8350 for gaming along with an Asus r9 280 top

Cool, glad it works good. Out of curiosity are you overclocking your R9 280? Have you run 3D Mark Firestrike? I would be interested to see your score if you would post it. Thanks!

My r9 280 top is standard haven't overclocket it yet, I will run some benchmarks tomorrow then we can do some comparisons, standard and overcloked. ;-) My guess is it pretty much the same.. BTW where can I download Firestrike?

I was able to get a decent boost overclocking my R9 280, I'm kind of interested to see how my similar but older/slower system does overall against your much newer and faster one.

http://www.futuremark.com/benchmarks is where you get 3D Mark, just use the free one (the "demo" they call it). Firestrike is the highest test, but the only one that matters as your system is overpowered and will crush the ones below it.

Wow, I am surprised how much mine holds up. All stock I get 5970, with the card OCed to a stable 1025 mhz (I cant get mine anywhere near higher which sucks) I get 6273, and OCed to 1050 with my processor at 3.7 (wont stay stable at that) I get 6670. That said while I don't know my standard PC Mark Processor test, that is where mine would not hold up nearly as well.

Thanks for the info!

Still great numbers for an older cpu, all the 8 cores of the fx 8350 is not used optimal in any games yet maybe that will change with directx 12 when it arrives here during the summer along with win 10. to be honest my 4690k does a great job to with "only 4 cores" it is also @ 4.4 ghz but with an asus gtx 670. If I were you I would keep that setup of yours until something big happens like directx 12 or something similar.

I agree, when i bought the mobo and processor it was top dog AMD at the time. That was a little under 4 years ago. I think I'm gonna stick with this for at least a couple more years, its just not worth it unless its a really big jump. Like you said DirectX 12 will probably be a decider as well.

Glad I could help again and thanks for the comparison! Enjoy!
