EVGA Supernova 650W G1 Gold Modular Power Supply

You will have to tell us what is in your system in order to make that determination..... in essence, it's determined by your video card..... if it's an nVidia card or cards, you can make that determination here:

EDIT: The 280x draws 243 watts and warrants a 550 watter / 750 in CF ... more if overclocked

This is Guru3D's generic power supply recommendation for the R7 and R9 series:

AMD R9 280X - On your average system the card requires you to have a 550 Watt power supply unit.
AMD R9 280X Crossfire - On your average system the cards require you to have a 750 Watt power supply unit as minimum.

If you are going to overclock GPU or processor, then we do recommend you purchase something with some more stamina.

While they recommend more for overclocking, remember that they used a CPU that draws up to 100 watts more than yours.... so I'd be perfectly comfortable using the 4960k and two 280x's w/ a 750 watter (add 45 watts for CPU OC and 25 watts for each card = 95 watts)

The old G1's were not so hot but it's been reported that they are a better design than the original and EVGA has switched OEMs on a number of their units already. Don't have any details but the fact that EVGA now offers a 10 year warranty on the G1s indicates that they at least have confidence in the unit. At least if it fails, you are guaranteed a replacement for 10 years.

The 1000 watter was reviewed by hightechlegion and it garnered decent review. Ofc that's no guarantee that the 650 is up to the same standards. Until we see the new unit tested, it;'s hard to judge.

So I'd opt for a good 750 watter like the EVGA G2 750 (£90) for CF or the Seasonic M12 620 (£72.11) for a single card .... or even the S12 series which gets a 9.5 performance and 10.0 build quality rating from jonnyguru
