Dear fellows.
Me and a friend of mine busy building new system of course for games, the motherboard is an Asus z97 maximus ranger vii,. everything is complete and we are confuse which ram shall we put in,
Please suggest which brand and how much mhz will be good, the mainboard supports upto 3100mhz,. Currently we have intel G3420 cpu which is going to be replaced in a month or 2 with 4670k,.
Thanks

Solution
Your current CPU can run 1333/1600 sticks, the 4670K if OCed can run 2400/2666+. As far as voltages the the 1.5 is the voltage recommended by Intel for spec 1600 sticks. Running higher 1.6-1.65 is perfectly safe with the higher freqs. Intel even lists sets that they have certified, the bulk of which is 1.65. Here's one of their lists:

If were to go 1866/2133 now, you could run them with your 3240 at the lower data rate (1333 or 1600) and then when you get the 4670K you can simply run them under XMP at full speed

I'd get a good 1600MHz kit, from GSkill, Corsair, HyperX, etc.... trusted brands. Try getting the least CAS latency though.

If you do want suggestions here you have it: http://www.amazon.com/G-Skill-PC3-12800-1600MHz-9-9-9-24-F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL/dp/B00339X1EM

I don't know which color scheme you prefer so.... http://www.amazon.com/G-SKILL-Ripjaws-1600MHz-PC3-12800-F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM/dp/B004KY719A

I suggest going with corsair or g.skill. those are my 2 elite companies when I am looking at computer memory. the speed does not matter at all. memory speed makes very little gaming fps boost. most of the time it is not even noticeable. the only reason you would go with a high memory speed is if you are doing video editing, content creation, rendering, etc... also, another reason why you would consider going a high memory speed is if youre using an amd apu which has a cpu and a gpu component in one chip. since the gpu is using the memory from your memory slots instead of having a separate graphics card that uses vram, higher memory speed would make a noticeable difference in games. but if you are using a separate graphics card and not doing video editing, memory speed would not make much of a difference. a pretty standard speed when I buy memory is 1600 mhz.

I mean, from what I could understand and know, that's really cheap for a 16GB kit. If that's the case, and it's a complete bargain, I'd go for it as it is quite a good kit.

Price to performance sweet spot for Haswell is 1866/2133 (and can often find 2400 sets in the same price range. On Haswell for high performance DRAM I prefer the GSkill Trident X, great sticks, generally a little lower priced and close performance wise are the GSkill Snipers. For 16GB, stick with 2x8GB ofver a 4x4GB set, less stress on the MC (memory controller)

Hi,
Thanks for all of your suggestions, but now we have a one last problem with MHZ vs Volts,. some ram's are at 1.5v and some are at 1.65v, if i go for more than 1600mhz then the volts goes up and i saw over internet something about memory controller damage with 1.65v,. NOw,, it's even more confusing, so suggest at once and for all,
currently we have intel G3420, asus z97 maximus Ranegr, what shall we buy,.
thanks

Thanks man, I can see It has spd speed 1600mhz at spd voltage 1.5,. so i think it's gonna be ok even with stock freq,, i may never need to oc it to 2400,. i hope they will not interfere with my cooler master hyper 212x.
