This is my first time buying a custom system, (I'm getting it from cyberpower) and I want to know if these are OK specs. I'm not looking for top-of-the-line, I just want a decent gaming pc, that will play most games on pretty good settings for a couple of years. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

CPU: AMD FX-8370 4.00 GHz Eight-Core (4.3 GHz Turbo) AM3+ CPU 8MB L2 Cache & Turbo Core Technology

GPU: AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card

COOLING: AMD Certified CPU Fan & Heatsink

MEMORY: 8GB (4GBx2) DDR3/1600MHz Dual Channel Memory (Corsair or Major Brand)

HARD DRIVE: 120GB Kingston SSD + 1TB SATA III Hard Drive Combo (Combo Drive)

MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE 970A-DS3P AMD 970 ATX w/ Ultra Durable 4 Classic, On/Off Charge, GbLAN, 2 PCIe x16, 3 PCIe x1, 2 PCI

POWER SUPPLY: 730 Watts - Enermax Revolution X't ERX730AWT 80 plus Gold Certified Power Supply

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

I'm not overclocking and the cost right now is $1,126

Also I already have peripherals, but I may be getting a new monitor. Any suggestions?

You can do way better than that for your budget if you build yourself instead of going through Cyberpower - a company that is not well known for quality control or technical support. Don't bother with an FX-8370, any Intel CPU is going to be infinitely better for gaming.

This is only a $100 difference but will be a far superior system:

Why do you suggest the better cooler? I'm not saying your idea is bad, I'm just curious what your reasoning is.
