I have the scanner but lost the disc that came with it during a recent move. Meantime I also had to replace my laptop, going from Windows XP (where the scanner worked fine) to Windows 8.1. The Canon support at their website shows no drivers or software available for this scanner on the Win 8 O.S. Any thoughts? Do I need to get a new scanner that'll work with OS8? Thanks.

A big part of the problem is that starting with Windows 7 IIRC, Microsoft stopped supporting TWAIN drivers in favor of WIA only drivers.
That wreaked havoc on network scan and print drivers for older devices, but MS has some decent generic WIA drivers for scan and print that work pretty well for many older devices if attached with a USB connection.
