I need a utility to shrink logical D and Expand Logical C without data loss, and no formatting.
Asus Notebook with "C" at 120 gb and "D" at 200gb.
I realize that the windows recovery partition is on "D" and wouldn't want to destroy that. I intend to make C 270 gb and leave D at 50 gb to accommodate the recovery partition.
It looks like Win7 has a Shrink command, but it doesn't appear to meet my needs.
Is there a utility out there that anyone can recommend to perform the task accurately?
Preferably free.

Thanks for your response nismoguy82!
I saw it mentioned in one of the other threads as well.
It's good to know that you've used it and recommend it.
I will definitely take your advice. Thanks again!

It took me a while to understand the software, but once I did, it worked like a charm! Thanks again!

It's good that it all worked out for you, however, a caveat for anyone coming upon this thread...

Take my advice and ALWAYS make a comprehensive backup of your system BEFORE you undertake major partition changes in your system. Preferably clone the contents of your existing system to another drive. This goes for any PC user no matter how experienced he/she is and no matter how familiar they are with the partitioning program they will be using.

Time & time again we've encountered users - even very experienced ones - who have lost precious data because for one reason or another the partitioning process went awry. Repartitioning a drive is NOT a simple process although the program used in the process frequently makes it seem so. There's nothing quite so frustrating as a repartitioning scheme that's gone amuck. Backup your system for security.

to confirm what ArtPog just indicated, i've used EaseUS ToDo Backup and their Partition Manager utilities for years and never had a problem - zero, nada, zip -

Until i installed Windows 7 64x on a Samsung xp941 SSD installed in the M.2 socket on my board with an UEFI BIOS. I only mention the UEFI BIOS as the partition attempt on the xp941 was the first partitioning i had done on a UEFI system. The second i hit the "apply" button, system crashed, black screen with all the error msgs and it corrupted the disk so badly, windows repair (from the disk) would not or could not fix it. Ended up doing a complete re-install.

It was a fairly simple partitioning i was doing - 256 GB disk, that i'd installed about 77 GB on, and want to reduce the single "C" partition of 256 gb down to 122 gb, so i could create a "D" partition.

I really don't know if it was because of the xp941 or the UEFI boot manager, but it has made me reluctant to use it again on that drive. I was able to partition it, without issues, before the re-install of windows, so it may just have been the EFI boot file - i'm not software literate enough to know
