I have a laptop with intel hd 4600 gpu , 8 gigs of RAM and an i7 processor.I want to run games like skyrim but dont know if it will be playable at decent fps.Would be grateful if you could suggest some playable games for this system.

You will not be able to play that game on high with that gpu. The types of games you can play are games like lol or dota 2. These games have a low gpu requirement.
No. There are NO integrated graphics currently available on the HD platform capable of that. Maybe medium settings I would think, and that might be stretching it a bit. Skyrim tends to be a bit CPU intensive though, which MIGHT offset the weak graphics a little bit, so I'd get a demo and try it out prior to buying any particular title. For the most part you want dedicated graphics to play ANY current demanding titles at high or ultra settings, especialy at 1080 or higher resolutions.

To everyone above me, you seem to be underestimating the Intel hd 4600, for a mobile iGPU it is very, very capable. Now as for skyrim on high, that is a different story. Skyrim is a fairly demanding game, and a 4600 would achieve 10-15 fps at 768p high. Now, if you are ok with lowering the graphics a bit, you could run the game at half medium/half low, and achieve a steady 30fps at 768p. As for 1080p gaming, I wouldn't bother with it, it won't work. As for PC gaming, your laptop is capable of gaming as long as you don't expect too much, at 768p low, most modern games will run at 30fps, and for the more demanding ones 1024x768 or 800x600 will provide you with over 30fps for almost every game out today. If you are interested, check out this page http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-HD-Graphics-4600.86106.0.html for more information about what will run and what won't. Pretty much all games except Evolve and ACU will run at 30fps low at 800x600 or higher, with older games like BF3 allowing for higher resolutions. So good luck on your adventure with skyrim, and remember as long as you don't expect too much, you will be able to enter the world of PC gaming
