So about 5 years ago i used to have time warner cable as my primary cable service. About 1 year ago we switched to satellite but the coax cable outlet is still on the wall hiding behind the sofa. If i get time warner cable internet, can i just use that old coax cable outlet and connect it to a modem. would that work. or would i need to get a technician out here to re install the outlet.

You should be able to just add a modem seeing as it worked with Time Warner before. As long as it's still the same internet type eg cable. But if it then doesn't work, you'd need to get a technician to look at it.
