My motherboard/chipset will work with the R9 290x right?

Solution
Well, it probably wouldn't fit in your case, there probably wouldn't be good enough airflow inside the case even if it did. The 290x would work in your motherboard but would be a poor match for your cpu. I can't recommend it.

I already took measurements and it should barely fit. I'll also have my case open with a fan blowing in it. And my cpu is just fine and will be more than fine when dx 12 comes out. I was planning on upgrading that around Christmas anyway along with my mobo and case. All I wanted to know if the r9 290x would work with my chipset and thank you for that answer.

If your motherboard has a physical PCIEx16 slot then it will work. But don't expect to get great FPS with that CPU. Also don't put your hopes on speculation about DX12 yet. Always take rumors with a grain of salt.
