What is the error saying?
See whether your system detects your HDD(in BIOS). If the HDD is not recognized at all, you can try changing cables(SATA and power ones) as well as the port. If the issue persists, there is possibility that there is something wrong with the HDD. You can try it on another system and see whether it will get recognized over there.
