Hello,

I was advised via the Toshiba Service Station that I update my BIOS and against my better judgement I did... The update ran flawlessly but when it finished it shut the laptop down and after that it would not boot... When I pressed the power button it would light up for half a second and shut back off...

So I opened her up removed the CMOS battery, held the power button down and tried again, still nothing... Long story short I discovered that removing both of my RAM cards (one was an upgrade) solves the problem and the computer runs perfectly (without the RAM)...

System info and BIOS still say I have 8GB RAM

Could the BIOS update have caused a problem with my RAM?
If I purchase new RAM will it work?
and why is my computer running just fine without RAM?

Toshiba Satellite P75-A7200
200GB HD (Extra)
Windows 8.1 64bit (Installed on an 80GB SSD)
Intel Core i7-4700MQ @2.40ghz

I had this problem too. Apparently, after updating the bios your machine won't accept anything other than 1.35v RAM.

So I found out there are actually 4 RAM slots.. 2 Must be on the other side where I did not see them... If thats the case then no problem since everything I want to run right now will work fine... But would still like to be able to upgrade RAM... but right now I cant put anything in either of the 2 slots under the service hatch..

sorry for the late response, was out of the country...

yes the ram was seated correctly.. I purchased new ram hoping it was just an issue with the ram cards but I still get the same problem

Had the same problem. No matter what update they have come out to BIOS 1.0 (tried 3 different updates so far) my Laptop will not work with upgraded RAM. The only solution I had was to roll back to 1.0. Maybe someday they will offer an update that will work with expanded RAM options.

That's exactly it. The ram has to be low voltage (1.35). Most of the times it has a letter " L" somewhere in the name. When you buy it, do it by entering the laptop information. Reputable places like Crucial, Kingston, etc. will give you the right choices
