Hi. I'm trying to find GDDR3 memory. I bought DDR3 for this Gateway LT2803H and it don't work......I put old one in and it fired right up. So I noticed it's 1 Gig GDDR3 and I can't find it anywhere. Am I sol now and bought 2 gig sodimm for nothing?

Solution
AFAIK, there is no standard for putting GDDR on DIMMs, so you are likely looking at a custom SODIMM that just happened to use the DDR3 SODIMM connector for convenience.

hey do you think if I put Linux on this Windows Starter system be a better option since hardware can't be upgraded? Because just sitting here idle 778 MB of Ram is used out of the meager 1 Gig

Despite what the eBay sticker says about GDDR3, I looked at the zoomed pictures and based on the chip markings (j1108bfbg-dj-f), those chips are DDR3-1333, so no GDDR3 weirdness here aside from the misleading sticker. Whatever issue you have getting the extra DIMM to work is either vendor whitelist or compatibility issue.

As for putting Windows on it, that would depend on whether the device as a standard PC-like boot interface - legacy or UEFI - and the ability to boot off external storage.

Well it says it on my sticker as well. That's the same module. Are you saying that it is just chance if a module works or not? Should I take a chance on ordering the OCZ module since those others say it works in that specific Gateway? And I was wondering about Linux instead of Windows 7 Starter

Whoah there, that is your issue right there. Windows Starter. 2 gig max limit. If you have a 1 gig stick and a 2 gig stick, that's 3.

Also in many netbooks there is a 2 gig RAM limit in addition to the Windows Starter limit.

No the 1 gig was being swapped for the 2 gig module that doesn't work.
