Hello everyone,

Thank you for taking a look at my issue here. I have searched all over the place before posting this, but because of the wording many results are only vaguely touching on it.

Issue: I want to reinstall Windows 8.1 because of some annoying issues with some software (no it can't just be uninstalled, it's Microsoft stuff and it's deeply intertwined and uncooperative).

The thing is that I really, really don't want to lose my UEFI / BIOS settings and my GPU settings. All that stuff is working perfectly and I want to save them.

Everything about the system would be the same when I reinstall Windows. The only difference would be the new instance of Windows (same original disk and key).

Is it possible to save my UEFI / BIOS and GPU settings and reinstall those after I reinstall Windows 8.1? If so how would I do this (I know in UEFI there is a Favorites etc but I don't know if those will save and carry over)?

My set-up is as follows:

Windows 8.1 DVD or USB
Asus X99-Deluxe
Samsung 850 Evo SSD
Asus Strix GTX-980

If any other info would be helpful please let me know. In the past I wouldn't have thought twice about just reformatting and redoing everything. This system is different. I don't want to have to tweak everything again.

Thank you for any help that can be provided.

Installing or re-installing Windows does not modify any existing settings in the UEFI or the legacy BIOS.

You will lose your GTX 980 configuration settings though, unless the configuration software has an option to save the settings to a file which can then subsequently be imported. Not being an Nvidia user I can't elaborate on that.
