Hi folks;

I'm currently living at a student campus where we don't have a wireless network point. Only Lan (don't ask me why).
I've told the network supervisor i'm running linux ubuntu. I'm thinking about placing a wireless network router on my lan cable (the only cable there is). So my phone, laptop and tablet will also work with internet (they're completely useless now).

So in short;
What network device should I take to:
- make the network supervisor think it's a PC

I still have a Linksys WRT54G, could I use this thing for this? If yes; what system should I flash it with?

This is not illegal, they didn't forbid me to make an acces point; I just want to hide this because of possible consequences that they could eventually take.

Hope you guys can help me out! Also very curious if the WRT54G will do the job.

Solution
Not "forbidden" but the fact that there are "possible consequences" that requires you to "hide this" says that this is against school policy in some way.

Nobody on this forum will help you avoid school rules.
