If you have a system that still has IDE, I would imagine the system is at least 12 years old. Not really worth it, but I would go with the 2.5 SATA.

So you would use the laptop hard drive?
Is that the 2.5 Hdd you were talking about?
1 person said its hard to install an operating system on a usb drive? Is that correct?Or is it just not a good way to go?
I also have a 36gig WD Sata 10,000 rpm Hdd but i think that's to small for Windows 7 Isn't it?

Yes, that's the laptop drive.

Never tried installing Windows on a USB drive and so I can't guarantee results, but the biggest problem I would imagine would be whether or not the installation would see the USB drive during setup.

The 36gig WD Sata 10,000 rpm Hdd isn't too small for Windows 7, but that might be a tad noisy? As I recall, those 10k rpm drive are loud - compared to 5400 and 7200 drives.
