When I try to run Tropico 5 I get a message that Tropico 5 requires directx 11 and the game will not run.
I have directx 11 installed but is it compatible with Nvidia GTX275?

Solution
Simply because you don't need to. it doesn't matter if dx11 is installed or not. your gpu will use dx9 anyway, so don't worry about that

Hi Everybody,
Thanks for all your replies. I now understand that my Nvidia GTX275 is not compatible with DirectX 11.
I wish they would tell you this before downloading and installing it because now I cannot find a way to replace 11 with 90c.
Has anyone got any ideas please.
Thanks

Sorry, I do garble on a bit..
As my Nvidia GTX 275 is not compatible with Direct X 11 I would like to revert back to Direct X 9.
But I cannot find a way to either delete/uninstall Direct X 11 so that I can replace Direct X 11 with Direct X 9.
Thanks

No no. You're not understanding the DX concept. DX is released based on the operating system. XP was DX9, Vista was DX10, W7 is DX11, W8 is DX11.1, W8.1 is DX11.2 and W10 is DX12. If you have a GPU that supports the latest DX version, you'll be able to run games in that version. If not, you'll still be able to play the game (if supported) but in an older version of DX.

While possible, you don't typically change the DX version you want to play a game in. For example, Civilization 5 allows people to choose between DX 9 or DX10/11 depending on OS and GPU.

Because the 275 only runs up to DX10, native, all games will run in DX10 if they support it.
