I have port forwarded put the ports are still CLOSED!

I'm having a problem with port forwarding, it used to work but for some reason when I port forward it still stays the ports are closed please help!

My router is a Virgin Media Super Hub 2

I am port forwarding to host game servers it used to work, but i'm not sure what has happened.
Also what do you mean,
"What device are you forwarding the ports to?"
On my computer I type '192.168.0.1' into the address bar which opens up my router homepage, then I click on 'advanced settings' go down to 'port forwarding' and add a rule with the correct port and internal ip address.
