Thinking of swapping MSI 970 gaming for a 970 w/backplate. Suggestions?

Due to the whole false advertising fiasco, I have an opportunity to return my ~4 month old card for store credit. (already confirmed with the retailer)

All in all, I do really like the MSI card performance wise. Dead silent, and runs cooler than any card I've ever owned.

However... the lack of a backplate is killing me. The card literally sags under its own weight... I worry about how long it will last. Will the warp damage it? Will it get worse over time? It has bugged me since I first installed it, and continues to bother me. Do all long cards regardless of backplates dip at the far end? This is the longest card I've ever owned.

I am not willing to spend 50 bucks on a 3rd party backplate.

Backstory complete, here's my question:

Which 970 is built like a brick shithouse but performs on a similar/better level than the MSI card? Willing to go up to $400. (Was looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487090)

Sorry if offensive to any fellow MSI owners. Not my intention. Does the dip bother you guys?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.

Gigabyte has excellent offerings for the 970 line. Also, MSI has other versions of the 970 (green or gold) with backplates, or their 980s should have one. I am also in the same boat- love the card, missing the backplate that most other manufacturers ship with their cards, even the bargain basement EVGA. Kinda sucks.

I decided to keep the card, but as an aside... I traveled with my computer, and it bluescreened after. You definitely HAVE to remove the GPU before traveling, it is not stable enough to survive the vibrations. It wobbles like crazy lol. Some fenangling and re-seating of the card fixed the constant bluescreening, but I've never had this issue with a gaming rig before. I only took it ~20 minutes in my car, and gently at that. My last build went back and forth 40 minutes each way every weekend without issue in my old rough-riding beater.

Definitely annoying, and makes me think twice about bringing my computer anywhere with me. Too much of a pain in the ass now. (Ie: I don't anymore.)

So you know. Heads up to anyone who owns this card. Take the extra 5 minutes to box the card before moving.
