my budget is around 1,500 and I already passed it, so any ideas on how to cut the price would be great! I'm mostily planning to use this computer for semi heavyduty video editing and animation (mostly 2-D, some 3-D) Also am i setting up a RAID1 correctly by having 4 1tb hard drives? This is the first time i've ever done this so any advice would e great. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/zFMXNG

You're not going to be able to afford the X99 platform while still trying for so much gpu horsepower. Wouldn't a GTX750ti work just fine for your needs? If not, I recommend this-

His programs may use CUDA, for acceleration, so the 780/ti would make sense

I am pretty new at this so bear with me. my first list was based around the i7-4790 but then i started thinking about DDR4 and thinking that maybe it would be best to spend more thinking about the future of technology. the video card i figured is pretty important for video editing so i guess that's why i emphasized on that. i'm not sure about the GTX750i, i'd have to do some research on that. Would you say that Gigabyte MOBO's are on par with Asus MOBO's? also does the brand of a video card really matter?

Gigabyte boards are indeed on par with Asus boards. The only 2 brands I recommend for higher end systems, though Asrock is creeping back up.

As for VideoCards brand, not really. But I stick with EVGA Gigabyte, MSI and Asus for NVIDIA, and Sapphire XFX, Gigabyte, Asus, and MSI for AMD cards.

thanks for your inpu! My concern is with the i5-4690, it doesn't have hyper threading which i've read is important for video editing pc's. Also why 4 1 tb hard drives? I would want to include an ssd for my OS and editing software

Couple things i am going to say about this,

For heavy editing, the 4690k will not keep up. You should either look into a 5820k 6 core or a 1231 v3 Xeon with 4 cores and 8 threads...

You can get a 4tb hdd cheaper than 4 1 tb.

The PSU you selected is not at all good quality. Look into a b2/g2 from EVGA, or XFX, seasonic, or Antec,

Also, drop the h100i, A simple Hyper 212 is all you need
