How to find and delete old Windows 7

I just recently upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8.1 pro via online download slash upgrade option. I selected the option to keep NO FILES but when going back to me C: drive i see a file "Windows" and another "Windows.old" which one do i delete?And will deleting it free up space on my hard drive and delete the windows 7 partition

1. Open Disk Cleanup by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type Disk Cleanup, and then, in the list of results, click Disk Cleanup.

If you're prompted to choose a drive, click the drive you just installed Windows on, and then click OK.


2.In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, on the Disk Cleanup tab, click Clean up system files.

If you're again prompted to choose a drive, click the drive you just installed Windows on, and then click OK.


3.Select the Previous Windows installation(s) check box, and any other check boxes for the files you want to delete, and then click OK.


4.In the message that appears, click Delete Files.

search for windows.old

the file should be very little or none existent. the process described earlier will remove unwanted files. DO NOT delete windows.

you mentioned partition. is your drive partitioned with windows 7 in one partition and windows 8.1 in another?
