Hey guys!

The title pretty much says it all.

bought this cpu and did a 15 minute test on prime95 and the highest temp i got was 68c running at 3.2 MHZ.

now the question is, is that temperature reading normal or safe?

here are my specs

fx 8320e
msi 970 gaming mobo
cooler master seidon 120v liquid cooling in a push - pull config
corsair cx750m
corsair vengeance pro 8 gb 1866
asus gtx 760

PS: It is summer here in the philippines so its naturally quite hot, but I want to know if my CPU is going to be ok at this temp.

Also note that i replaced the cooler master fan (2400 rpm) that was included with the seidon with a crappier, lower rpm fan (deep cool windblade... running at 1400 rpm)

Thanks guys!

Thanks for the replies guys. I've stress tested it couple of times. Idle temps are about 22-26c (sometimes even below 20c) and then 68c at 100%.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I turned on the TURBO BOOST so it goes up to 4.0 mhz.

So at 68c at 100% I don't have anything to worry about is that correct? Sorry for asking again but the two of you have completely different replies. :)

Max safe core temp recommended by AMD is 62 degrees celsius.
maximum socket temperature is 70 degrees celsius.
its best to keep the core temperature under 55 degrees though to keep the lifetime longer

Ok so I did another stress test just to make sure. And to my surprise it even got hotter!
Again I'm using a CM SEIDON 120v in a push pull config, used the stock CM thermal paste.
You guys have any advice? Becaue I don't know wheter these temps are safe or If I may have bought a defective proc or cooler or what?

as you can see my idle temp I believe is pretty good. But when under load it shoots up to 80c which didn't happen before I first posted this thread, which is a bit alarming. What should I do? Reseat the cooler?(just did) Apply better thermal paste?(haven't bought yet)

id reset the cooler make sure it on right reapply paste if u have another cooler or original heat sink put that back on just to cancel out if the cooler master seidon 120v liquid cooling aint fucked. might wanna do that first

I should point out that this never happened until recently when I (1) I disassembled my pc to clean and (2)installed my new GTX 970 which seems to be blocking my airflow since it barely fits in my case.

I even get very good temps when my rig was in an improvised testbench. 17c idle and 30-40c under load. So my suspect here is the GPU blocking the airflow and wrong contact on the cooler but I could be wrong thats why I need some insights.

Anyways I'll try all your much appreciated suggestions and update you guys as soon as I get the results. Thanks!

Hey guys! I tried re-seating my cooler and applied new thermal paste and voila! Now my temps don't even go above 50 under load! :)

It turns out that the bracket of the CM seidon 120v was hitting the backplate of the case therefore no proper contact on the cooler and proc. I cut the part that was hitting the plate and now it sits perfectly.

Fingers crossed that these temps will remain consistent. :) Will still monitor it though in case it shoots up again.

Thanks guys really appreciate your help! :)
