I have formatted a drive as a EUFI drive.
I boot into a usb stick that is FAT32 and has Windows 7 64 bit installation files on it.
I start the install routine, but Windows is saying that it can't install onto a EUFI formatted 3tb disk as some driver hasn't been loaded. The motherboard is only a year old and I've enabled EUFI in it where I can find it.
However a EUFI formatted 3tb disk with Windows already on it boots and loads fine and was installed using the exact same process.
Anyone know what's going on?

by uefi formatted drive i assume you mean you partitioned GPT vs MBR?

not sure why you want to go that route as MBR is much easier

if so, these instructions helped me get windows 7 x64 to install and boot on a samsung xp941 drive

"Once the bootable USB drive is created using Rufus, check the below:
Preparing the USB Stick for UEFI
Check if the file 'BOOTX64.EFI' via the path \EFI\BOOT\ is available on the stick.
If this is not the case, you can copy the file to the stick by using one of the two methods below:
• If access to the stick is via a UEFI-enabled computer with a Windows 7 (or higher) x64, the Bootloader can be copied and renamed to the stick. You can do this on the system partition under:

o C:\Windows\Boot\EFI for the file bootmgfw.efi
o Copy it to the stick in the \EFI\BOOT\ folder and rename this file BOOTX64.EFI (notice the reverse order of efi and boot)

• The file bootmgfw.efi can also be extracted from a Windows 7 (or higher) x64 - DVD. It is located in the 2.7 GByte large archive Install.wim in the subdirectory \sources. The archive can be extracted with an archiving program. This file is located in the subdirectory "1" of the archive at 1\Windows\Boot\EFI\.

NOTE: When installing Windows from a USB Boot drive, you often have two options when selecting the boot device like this for example:
USB Disk 2.0 (3821MB)
UEFI: USB Disk 2.0 (3821MB)
You should definitely select the 2nd option beginning with UEFI when installing windows to the XP941

let me know if you have any questions

MBR may be easier but does not support over 2tb, this is 3tb

WHAT'S your motherboard? make and model

for what it's worth, i don't think you need to format the drive as "UEFI" - but simply make it a GPT disk - in disk management, wipe the drive, delete any partitions etc, then in the little box to the left where it sez "Drive x" (x = the number assigned to that drive) right clik and select "convert to GPT"
then on the longer box to the right of that select "create simple volume", then in that process, format it as NFTS

it should then accept the windows installation

I finally managed to do this by partitioning the drive as a 2ttb, installing windows onto it, then using AOMEI partition pro to change the drive from MBR to GPT.
