I'm completely new to PC gaming but have decided to take the plunge and build myself a rig.
So after snooping around the forums and looking up some parts this is what I came down to:

Intel I7 4790-K

Asrock Z97 E-6

WD Velociraptor 1TB

Corsair vengeance 2x8

Nivida GTX 970

Corsair hydro GTX E

And a corsair RM 750w

Standard DVD and Blu-Ray player

Such and such

Two questions are is there anything really unneeded here to keep costs down?
And can someone recommended a case preferably mid size?

Thank you in advance

This build is very, very powerful in gaming. It is below a thousand pounds in price and the gaming performance has not been compromised. It is a very solid build.

Granted it is well below your budget, you can do one of two things to improve performance by a little margin:

1) Buy an SSD. (Will improve boot time, local-file editing and the programs installed on the SSD will run seemingly more smooth)

2) Buy another 970 and run them in SLI.

Neither of those two are necessary however, it...

Neither of those two are necessary however, it will affect performance in a good way, especially another 970.

This build can run everything on max settings on 1080p - 1440p resolution. It cannot do 4K gaming.
