What to do with extra case fan?

You can find my build in my signature. I recently got a Cougar Vortex CF-V12HPB 120mm fan off of eBay to replace my noisy Cooler Master CPU fan. So now I'm going to have an extra 120mm fan to use for the case. I'm going to try to attach pictures here of my case and fan placement so maybe someone can help me out. What would be the best placement of my extra fan?

For the second picture, maybe I can ghetto mount the extra 120mm fan in the 3.5 inch bay area to get some more direct air to the CPU? It's tall and wide enough, even for a 140mm I believe. Also, does any air from the PSU make it into the case? I've heard of some people say that it can act as another intake fan, but mine just sucks in air from the bottom and spits it out the back, not inside the case (I think).

Alright, I'm done rambling. Any help is appreciated! Thanks! :D

Hi,

It would best to create a state of low air pressure by having a greater amount of air being expelled then you blow in,so 2 x 120 out and 1 x120 in. This is similar to how a plane flys and what a turbo does on a internal combustion engine.

So you don't think I should try to get more direct air to the CPU? If I added the second one to the front, it would be kinda blocked by two HDDs and an SSD.
Also, did my picture links work?

Sadly the PSU just barely blocks two of the screw holes for it, but I could make it work I'm sure
I thought about making it an exhaust facing up right next to the other exhaust fan, I might do that

Why would that be better? I mean I thought putting more cool air in would help cool things better and the high air pressure would just escape through the top of the case? I'm not belittling your opinion, I'm sure you know more than I do, but I feel like computer cooling and combustion engines are very different, but then again I don't know much about engines

for dust reasons it is best to have more fans blowing in with filters creating a positive pressure system. this is because with a negative pressure system dust will creep in every crack and crevasse.

For cooling I personally have found that the negative pressure systems cool better by 2-5°C. the down fall is the negative pressure systems need more maintenance and evicting the dust bunny herds that develop more often.

Picture worked. Spec is easier to understand. Can't see all the fan positions in the photo.

I prefer positive to negative pressurised cases. But its no biggie as to which you have. I think more air flow from the front gets the air flowing better. Drives don't really slow it down that much. But are part of the reason I'd put 2 fans at the front. If nothing inside the case, I'd just have 1 rear and 1 front. Also the convection flow through the top acts like a fan too.
So 2 in and 1 out is a bit like having 1 1/2 in and 1 1/2 out.

Thanks. My GPU never gets too hot (Twin Frozr V's seem to do their job very well) so I may try to ghetto mount it in the drive bay area to get a little more air towards the CPU since it can get pretty toasty. And I can always move the fan around to see what works best.
Thanks again!

Thanks! I'll try some different placements and just see how it goes. Can't hurt to experiment
