I was looking at upgrading my gtx 650 to a 960 but I am not entirely sure if my 760k will bottleneck it and if so how much it would effect the performance of the card.

It varies. Unless if you're an enthusiast gamer, you won't notice a much of a difference between that CPU and an i5 in gaming. If you're doing 1080P you will be just fine. :) I currently use a FX 8350 for my PC and it does just fine for gaming. I used an older athlon II x4 previously and it was enough for what I needed to do 2 years ago. A newer model would be fine for current gen gaming.
