I have a Netgear N600 Wieless Dual Band Router; Model #WNDR3400. I unchecked the ReadyShare settings for the USB, and they initially save. However, they reset themselves to allow public pass-through acesss after a few days. My question is how do I lock this down so this cannot happen? As a side-note, I have a really strong admin password, and I also have had a third party security specialist also reset the router settings. Thus, my next question; could a USB device previously set, such as a camera reenable those settings? Thanks for any advice you might give.

Did you also disable the router pin in advanced wireless settings? That is the real security hole and can be cracked in an hour or so, bypassing the WPA2 protection through a side door attack.

Also, if the pin is still active (i.e. WPS is still enabled), devices that used the pin to connect will still be able to connect. This WPS pin code is the weakness. If you have disabled it you are fine.

If you shut off the USB port by checking allow only approved devices and there are none listed, then a previously used device should not be able to connect via the USB port.
