What is Best Way to Clone/Ghost Internal HDD to Another Internal HDD?

Hi there Dom Di Stroia,

Most of the major HDD manufacturers have their own cloning software. Just go to the download section of your HDD's maker website and download it.
Of course, there are a lot of third party ones. Check this thread out: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1878285/cloning-hard-drive.html

In case you are planning to clone a failing drive to a new one, keep in mind that this process makes exactly the same copy. So, if there was some corrupted data on the old drive(resulted from bad sectors let's say), the same corrupted data will be transferred on the new one. This is why a clean install is always preferable.

Cheers,
D_Know_WD :)

Okay, thanks.

In Windows 7, is it possible simply to copy and paste the entire drive/volume?

Okay, thanks.

Could the subfolders of the boot drive be copied without issue?

If a file is "in use", or otherwise not copy-worthy, would Windows 7 advise/prompt?

To answer your topic title, clonezilla, macrium reflect, and other free cloning/imaging software will work well enough.

If you can tell us what you are trying to acomplish, it will be easier to answer? Are you trying to move your OS to a larger drive. Is your drive failing and you need to move the OS? Are you simply trying to make more space on your existing drive and if so, is this the OS drive? Give more details.
