I have just gotten a new hard drive and the only web browser I use is Google Chrome. I have Windows 8.1 on both drives.
I am setting up Chrome on the new hard drive.. I transferred the bookmarks (html file) with absolutely no problem. But there's about 50 sites I use that need a login and password, and I have gotten used to Chrome automatically entering that data for me. So, I need these logins/passwords on Chrome in my new hard drive. Problem, as you likely guessed, is that I can't find a way to carry them over!
I first tried going into users////appdata and copying the "LoginData" and "LoginData-journal" files. I transferred those into the same exact directory on the other hard drive, which replaced the files. I restarted the computer, still, this does *not* work! The next thing I tried was logging into my Google account (on the new hard drive) and this doesn't work either. Although I rarely ever even use my Google account, so it goes without saying no passwords or even bookmarks are saved to it.
There *has* to be a way to do this! I'm shocked that a company known for efficent, simple-to-use software would make something like this SO aggravating! It is a MAJOR design flaw. (In fact the only way to sync Chrome bookmarks with Google Account bookmarks is to do it manually ONE by ONE... so yeah, nice job, guys!)
Anyone? I'm at my wits end!!
