Hey guys,

I just recently purchased some computer parts, i have put them all together and installed the os onto an ssd (freenas) (120gb kingston ssd). Everything was working fine until i went to install the hard drives for storage. If i connect a hard drive it freezes on the motherboard splash screen (Gigabyte).

I have tried the following
- Connecting another hard drive (still freezes)
- Removing ram and listening for the beeps (i hear the beeps)
- Removing the ssd and only trying hdd (still freezes)
- Removing any usbs, etc (still freezes)
- Connecting the hdd to another computer (boots up and works perfectly)
- Removing the hard drive and booting with no sdd / hdd connecting (boots to bios perfectly)
- Removing 1 stick of ram (still freezes)

Any help is appreciated :)

Welcome to Tom's Hardware, soccerjunki!

Great job with the troubleshooting! Unfortunately, it seems like your motherboard has failed somehow. I'd strongly recommend getting in touch with the manufacturer and let them know about the issue. If your mobo is still within the warranty period, they should be able to provide you with a replacement.
You can give it a try once again by resetting BIOS by re-seating the CMOS battery or using any other method listed here: http://www.wikihow.com/Reset-Your-BIOS

Hope this helped! Good luck! :)

Hey SuperSoph,

Thanks for your reply, just like i suspected. Yea the motherboard is brand new so i'll just send it back to the people i got it from, they offered to replace it if was faulty.

Anyways thanks so much and have a great day :D
