Will DX12 require a new graphics card?

Or would all the current DX11 cards be able to use DX12 features? I read that to take full advantage of new features in DX12 in Windows 10 , one would need to upgrade to a proper DX12 GPU.So buying a new graphics card now is probably not a good idea.

Your DX11 card will be capable of using DX12, you will need Windows 10 though.

AMD has confirmed cards with GCN architectures (7xxx and newer cards) to support DX12 and nVidia from Fermi (GTX 4xx) and newer architectures.

yeah all dx11 cards will be dx12 capable under windows 10. though some features may not work for those cards not built with dx 12 specifically in mind but they details have been hazy as to what that means. As i was saying though generally speaking most (few AMD's early DX11 cards are not i believe) will be DX12 capable

Ok good then my HD7750 will be supported.But i hope Microsoft provides update for Windows 7 to support DX12 as I'm not very impressed with Windows 10.

No Problems there dude, your DX11 card will be fine with DX 12..

DirectX 12 will ONLY be supported on windows 10
