The pentium will game better. Most games won't fully use the extra cores of the i7, and the pentium has better single threaded performance.
yeah not sure i can agree with that one. yes single threaded performance matters but there are plenty of games where 4 cores is equally as important (hyperthreading helps but a virtual core is still not as good as a fully functional one)...even in toms charts it shows that the i7 950 should perform better in general

You are very correct that the i7 will beat it out on games using all 4 cores, but most games, while using 4 cores, will only gain marginal performance on anything more that two, due to many games not being truly optimized for 4 threads. 3dmark is not the best representation of cpu performance. Benchmarking regular games will give you a more true idea of the gap between the two.
These are benchmarks of some popular games, and you can see that the pentium does quite well for itself even against much much better processors from the same gen. The 950 is 6 years old.

You can see that there are some games, like crysis, where the extra threads help quite a bit. But then you see that games like bioshock and tomb raider show very small gains with the extra two cores. As for the games you mentioned OP, I am not sure as I do not play them. But I believe the pentium will outdue the old i7.
