Middle Mouse Button Not Recognized

Hey guys, I've been trolling around various forums for a few days trying to figure out what is going on with no luck, so I figured it's time to sack up and just post a thread.

I recently wiped my hard drive and reinstalled Windows 7, and everything was fine at first. Then a couple days ago in the middle of playing Arma 3, my middle mouse button stopped working (anyone who plays Arma 3 knows how much of a pain that is). I went into options to rebind it, and it was still bound. So I exited out of the program and found that it's not just Arma 3; my middle mouse button just doesn't do anything anymore. I can't use it to open a link in a new tab in Chrome, if I middle-click on another open Windows Explorer window it doesn't select that window, etc. It's as though I just don't have a middle mouse button anymore.

It's a Razer 3.5g -- I've tried installing and reinstalling Razer Synapse 2.0, which I then uninstalled and tried installing / reinstalling Razer's legacy driver software for this model. Nothing. I'm willing to believe it's an issue of it just being old (I got it... must have been 2011 / the very beginning of 2012) but I'm really hoping it's some kind of software issue. Any help is greatly appreciated -- what do you guys think?

It could be that the Microswitch is just gone on the mid button. I've worked though about 3 Razer mice. They don't last long with continued use. You cold try opening the mouse up and see if you can repair, but if the microswitch is broken internally, then you would either have to replace the whole switch or just get a new mouse.

I figured something like this might be the case :/

I'm not going to bother opening it up to attempt a repair -- I'm so unfamiliar with the internal workings of mice that with my luck I'd end up with no mouse at all. Looks like I'll have to get a new one at some point.

In any case, thanks for the speedy reply.

You would be surprised how simple the internals of a mouse are. It could be that the middle button is just not making contact with the microswitch or something silly. If you are going to get a new one, I would be inclined to check if this is the case, it might be an easy fix to save you the money.
