Hi,

I'm looking forward to upgrade my current 24" non Full HD display. I'm looking for a 27" Display mainly for gaming. Games i play will be Diablo, Dota 2, Crysis 3, GTA V, FarCry 4, Battlefield Hardline etc. I will also use the display for watching movies.
I already read a bit about different panels and i cannot decide whether to go with a 1440p Display @60Hz or a 1080p Display @120/144Hz (the Asus ROG Swift seems too expensive).

My current PC Specs:
CPU: i5 2500k (currently no OC)
Mainboard: Asus P8Z68-V
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz
Graphics: Asus GTX 760 Direct CU II OC
SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 512GB

Mid term i plan to upgrade my PC (maybe second half of this year). For now i'm not sure if it will be all new or just the graphics card (Upgrading my i5 to a current i5 doesn't seem its worth the money). I probably will upgrade the graphics card to a single GTX 970.
For now i will hold on to my current GTX760. I guess i can use a 1440p display with only 1080p resolution if fps drops too low?

I would appreciate any suggestions to help me decide whether to go for 1440p display or 1080p display with 120/144Hz refresh rate. I would also appreciate any suggestions to specific displays.

With your video card you should go with a 1920*1080p display, because the gpu will not handle higher resolution in newer games you mentioned.

these are pretty cheap and good monitors for 1080p 60hz gaming

also i wouldn't go for 120 or 144h i would simply stick with 60hz
note that the 970 isn't enough to handle 1440p ultra in newer games aswell :/
