HI.

So i purchased my missis a old Toshiba satellite pro L450D-12X just to go on facebook with. I purchased it as a repair job as it wouldn't boot, i thought id just put windows 7 X64on it and there would not be a problem. however there has been a few.

first of all the fist instillation was glacially slow, after that the system kept spiking to 100% cpu usage and rebooting whilst downloading windows updates, then it would fail to configure the updated, when ever i get any updated installed and configured, after the reboot they would be missing and the updater would say the system has never checked for updates and that no updates are installed. ive tried the hot fix and the fix it but none has worked.

also i gave up on win7 and reverted to vista 32. this was not any better. for some reason the network controllers were broken. for the life of me i couldn't get any drivers installed at all. there was yellow icons there and updating them did not work.

i was then forced to reinstall win7, i upgraded from 1GB to 3Gb but that hasn't helped much.

the system is pretty stable atm with a clean install and no programs installed but its not good, i need these updates installed before i can let her on the laptop.

CAN ANYONE RESOLVE THIS WITH ME

Solution
Run Seatools for Windows and check the drive health. It almost sounds like there's bad sectors involved.

Run the Short drive self test and long generic tests.
