I was wondering if there is anyway to get better single thread performance out of my 8350 i have been reading about disabling some cores to get better single thread performance but its been mixed some say yes it will and some say it wont i just want to see other opinions on this. i oc the fsb with my 8350 and i get a little better ST performance but i want more and wna to know if there is anyway to do this? any help is much appreciated also my geekbench single thread performance score is 2408 and multi thread is 12560 and an i5 4690k is 3000 mark and i have seen the fx8350 single thread score over 3000 up with the i5 i was wondering how they did that?

Don't bother disabling cores. All that is doing is effectively making it an FX-6300.

The best way to increase single core performance on these FX processors is to overclock them as high as they'll possibly go. Get a good and cheap aftermarket cooler like the Raijintek Aidos or, if you can stretch to it, an AIO water cooler, make sure you have a decent motherboard and get as many MHz you can out of the chip.

the only way to increase single threaded performance is to increase clock speed. And no the 8350's single thread performance is not going to come close to an i5, an i3 or even a pentium G, im pretty sure even an old core 2 duo has similarper-core-per-clock performance compared to an amd FX at the same clock speed.
