is it possible to delete windows 7 off a ssd without losing other files on the ssd?

i have a ssd with windows 7 on it and im getting a new motherboard and cpu. i going to have to renistall windows. is there a way to just delete the OS without getting rid of my games and music i have on the ssd? the motherboard im getting has a m.2 slot and i bought a m.2 ssd that im just gonna put the os on. can i just put the OS on that driver and delete the old OS on the old ssd and keep the other files that are on it?

unfortunately, no, when you reinstall windows all your games/programs won't be in your registry so you'll HAVE to reinstall Windows. However, your music is something you can find a way to back up and easily transfer over onto a second drive. But the registry problem still stands: you will HAVE to reinstall all your programs and games at the very least.
 


It is worth noting however that if you have steam games on a separate partition, it is very easy to restore your games without having to utterly reinstall them - simply put steam to the correct library and then have it verify the integrity of the game cache. No massive reinstall needed.
