hi everyone :) ,
as the title says i'm short on 6+2pin power connectors :( ,but i heard i can use adapters to power an SLI / CF configuration (yes i'm well aware that more than 750w is recommended :D , but the new generation of GPUs don't need that much power so V650 is more than enough to powerup a 2x GTX980 ! :) ) so, that concludes it, also you need to know that i'm a loser when it comes to electricity ((wish i listened to the phy. teacher :D )) so please :( have mercy and explain to me the situation as clearly as possible. thanks in advance :)

Given that your PSU is a single rail it should be able to run a SLI setup (unless you plan on a couple of powerhungry titans og 780/ti's)

Taken from a test done with at 970 SLI setup.

Measured power consumption GTX 970 2-way SLI

System in IDLE = 123 Watts
System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 439 Watts
Difference (GPU load) = 316 Watts
Add average IDLE wattage ~10 Watts
Subjective obtained GPU power consumption = ~ 326 Watts

To max out your PSU i think your gonna need to go 3-way SLI for the 900 series GTX (Unless u have 15 fans, fancontroller, 10 HDD, 4 SSD and a cople of burners running too :D )

thanks for your answer but that's not the point exactly (i want to know about adapters for 6+2pin power connectors and if it's gonna help power 2x GTX980 , you know more cables means more power dissipation :) )

You can do it by using a 4-pin molex (2 of them to be more exact) to a single 8-pin PCI-E adapter. But I would not do it. Your PSU is a quality model, but under no circumstances would I run 980 SLI setup on that. 970 SLI, maybe, but even that is already cutting it too close, although it is doable, seen it a few times. Unless you are willing to risk the PSU and potentially other components, 750W is a minimum I'd safely use for a 980 SLI, because you need headroom here. Pushing PSU to its limits results in higher temps, lower longevity and potentially a failure. Remember, you have not only 2 cards in here, but also the CPU and other components.

thanks for the reply :) can you tell me more about the molex ?
