Hello TH,

So i've recently taken on the task of building myself a system. I've spent the last couple of days tweaking it for maximum performance vs best value.

Mind that this is my first build, so i have no idea if this is considered 'good'.

This build is gonna be used for gaming, and i hope that it can handle titles such as:
DayZ Standalone
CoD: Advanced Warfare
Arma 3

I'd like to play these on max if possible, so i don't know if this build can handle it.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB
Motherboard: MSI Z97 S SLI Krait Edition Socket-1150
RAM: HyperX Fury DDR3 1866MHz (1x8 GB)
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD
HDD: WD Blue 1TB
CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
PSU: Corsair CX 750W PSU
Case: Corsair Carbide 330r Blackout Edition

Notes:
Im choosing 1x8 GB RAM card to be able to upgrade in the future
PSU is 750W because i plan on adding another card for SLI in the future

So, is this a good build? Could it be done cheaper? Are there any incompatibilities?

Thanks for your answers!

You are fine with the exception of the memory and power supply.

MEM - The MSI Z97S SLI has four memory slots. Install 2x4GB now and you still have two more slots open for an upgrade later. There is no reason to leave yourself in single channel mode...
PSU - Nothing from Corsair that starts with C or Builder. That includes your CX 750... Look first toward XFX or Seasonic, then look toward Antec or EVGA B2 or Supernova if needed.

Enjoy that build!

EDIT: Don't forget a CPU Cooler (assuming you are going to overclock). The Hyper 212 EVO or Noctua NH-D15 are good options.

Good build, but two things:

First off RAM. Utilize dual channel / dual stick by using 2x4GB instead of 1x8GB. This will improve performance. If you are thinking about buying another 8GB stick in the future so you'll have 2x8GB of RAM, that would be completely unnecessary. 8GB of good RAM is sufficient, I do not recommend 16GB of RAM for gaming. But 2x4GB of quality RAM would be preferable.

The PSU is not good enough quality for the money. Buy this instead, this will power your setup and it is extremely good quality, and will power SLI 970 as well:

I don't know about the SLI Krait being faulty. Do you have a source on that?
If so, is it possible you could recommend me a good gigabyte mobo which has SLI support for the same ammount of money?

The PSU's you suggested can't be bought from my vendor, so i'll be going with something like this instead if it's good: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1750snlb9

Also fixed the ram as well. Thanks :)

Yes. Almost any XFX is good and reliable, and 750W will power your SLI setup in the future. The quality is, in my opinion, statistically flawless, so good choice.

Glad I could help.

What would your opinion be on this motherboard? I can get it just as cheap as your suggestions: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-maximusviiranger

Simple, as Mr. @ShadowR34per said, that board is better than the others we have linked, hence if you find the MaximusVII Hero or Ranger on sale, you just buy it. Good find by the way, whenever I buy those boards, I always pay full price, because I fail to find them on sale, darn hehe.

Lastly, this is a review of the MaximusVII both the Hero and Ranger is covered. Give it a read, quite interesting.

+1 for this
