windows 8.1, 64 bit
4 gb ram
I have a set of MP4 files that I am trying to copy to a flash drive, which has tons of room on it. The files themselves are all under 4 gb each, and the flash drive is formatted NTFS.
I was able to copy the smaller file, which is about 240 MB.
But the bigger ones, which are about 3.5 gb each, get stuck in the middle.
the transfer speed goes down to zero, and then I get various error messages.
Usually it says error 0x800703ee: The volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid.
Of course, I did not alter the volume or the file.
I thought maybe my old processor can't handle the job (pentium dual core) so I tried the same thing on a new computer with an i3 cpu, and 4 gb ram. I had the same problem. I am not trying to edit the file, just copy it, so i3 should be just fine, right?
what's up with this?
Then I split the files in half, and even so, the copying process got stuck in the middle.
the files themselves play just fine in WMP, so they don't seem to be corrupted.
and I was able to upload them to the cloud and sync them to my other PC.
