I currently have an RT-AC87U -

I'm in the USA and I would like to watch and read local German news and put on TV programs for my kids. All Easy when using a German IP Address.

With this router, is it possible set up a Band/SSID on the router to only use a VPN from Germany- so all computers connected to that SSID/Band have a German IP? Is this possible? If possible, can someone recommend a VPN that would work with this?

Example: When I connect to the Guest network, I would be assigned a German IP address, but when I connect to either the 2.4 or 5 primary wifi networks I'm connecting to my US ISP-

I don't think you can do this with the default firmware....they may have added support I don't know.

It can be done on dd-wrt or even the asuswrt-merlin firmwares. This function is normally done by routing certain lan ip though the VPN and other routing directly. To do what you want you would have to do the additional step of assigning different IP blocks to the SSID...ie a vlan. You would then say get 192.168.1.x on the normal network and 192.168.2.x when you connected to the special ssid. You would then route the 192.168.2.x networks via the VPN.

Even the base router firmware will support almost any VPN service there is. It is more a matter of finding a vpn service that gives good performance for a good price.
