Hey,
I'm going away to a LAN tomorrow, and I just figured there might be something wrong with my ethernet cable, but then again, I have dual booted with windows 7 and windows 8.1, and on windows 7 it works perfectly fine, but not on my main operating system, windows 8.1.
So basically, I have 100mbps in download and 10 in upload, and on windows 7 I get like 95 down and 9.5 up, which seems reasonably close. On windows 8.1 however, I am stuck at around 8mbps, and 10 in upload, for some weird reason. There goes my beliefs that there is something wrong with the cable.
What could possibly be causing this? I don't want to be at the LAN with 8mbps when the internet speed there is like 4000mbps... I need an answer asap, and I really appreciate the help.
Just something to add: When I use an ethernet cable on windows 8.1, I get around 8mbps as stated above, however if I use wireless, I get around 50mbps :| This should definitely not be the case, as I'm sure you can understand.
