Hello all! I have been reading thru what seems like hundreds of the posts from all of you here in this forum about the Emachine's fatal flaw it seems. I see soooo many others have had the same problem as my dad was with his emachine, it is an old W3653 tower, but the hard drive is decent with plenty of memory for all that he is interested in doing, it had Vista on the HD (which i personally loathe) but all was well and good for about 2 days after he bought it used. Anyhow, we bought a new motherboard and PSU and hooked everything up.

Still, it is doing the same thing, he pushes the button and 'sometimes' it acts like it is attempting to start, then kicks itself right off, sometimes it will restart/power itself up again really quick after that, most the time not. Sometimes we have to push the power button ourselves to get it to 'try' and restart. etc etc .. same story as all the others who bought emachines it seems.

The only difference is we HAVE replaced the motherboard & PSU and still the same problem. I AM HOPING that it is something little that we are overlooking, one of those little things that makes a HUGE deal in these beasts functioning.

Anyhow, thanks in advance for any help.

Well, i went back to work on it today, managed to get it started, got windows to load, went into system restore to give that a run and after about 5 min. it shut down in the middle of the restore session, so i'm figuring its the processor. At least with all that we were able to do today I know all the other stuff is okay.
