About to finish of my gaming pc build and am trying to decide between the cpu.
Specs:
Mobo: ASRock 990FX. KILLER
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti
Ram: 1x8 Corsair 1866 vengeance. (Plan on getting another stick with the left over money)

Solution
I wouldn't say the 8320 is future proof. Its already several generations behind Intel and AMD has made no statement on whether it will even continue to create am3+ cpu's. Fx processors are not more powerful than the phenom2 we used 5+ yrs ago (IPC-wise) and if it werent for their high clock rates and more cores...

Are they a good value - IMO Yes they are. You can get an 8320 for $140 which would only get you an I3 with an Intel Build.

AMD FX 8320 is better for you he is better than 6300,if you don't want to spend extra money stay with fx 6300 because he is slightly better in low price gaming than intel.

this cpu can last for several years and it is an 8core so its kinda future proof. and yes it may be generations behind but for a good intel, at least matching 8320 you need almost double the money and no my friend no phenom is better than 8320. 8320 is comparing with i5 and some i7

FX 8 core CPU's have a couple of things going for them, both PS4 and Xbox One are AMD 8 cores, and modern is software really starting to optimise for more cores, these "older" chips can really do alot, it can last a few years, which is really all you can ask out of mid priced CPU
