Screen tearing on new GTX 770 setup.

I recently upgrade my system from an fx8350, Asus Sabertooth, GTX 770 to a i7-4790k, Asus Maximus VII Formula, and kept my same GTX 770.

I get screen tearing when browsing the internet, watching videos, and even playing games. I have reinstalled my drivers for my GPU, I have enabled Adaptive V-Sync, triple buffering.

I'm not sure where to go form here.

Has V-Sync helped at all? It should at least helped a little.

What is the refresh rate of the monitor you are currently using?

You say you see tearing in desktop mode? hmm. Have you tried the other ports on the gpu? DVI or DP if it has one. Pretty sure it has HMDI to use as the last resort,..well second last. It is not common for visual tearing when in desktop or 2d mode, as nvidia calls it. The Adaptive v-sync and v-sync in general are for 3d graphics applications and it can be forced on but i don't think that has any effect on Windows Shell.

It isn't really on the desktop, its more when watching videos, like on youtube or others. I haven't tried any other ports yet, as i don't have any other cables on hand. I've been using HDMI. Any other thoughts?

Not so much, I've only installed a couple of games ( I have a shitty internet), and from what i've experimented with they haven't really a whole bunch, if at all. My refresh rate is 60hz, would it be better to get a 144hz monitor, I have been looking at the Asus VG248 model.

Could just be the browser. Disable hardware acceleration in your browser settings and turn on GSync for your browser. Try that and see if it works. There will be screen tearing on some videos but shouldnt be a problem in gaming, I hope.

Just for ports , the graphics card will come with the DVI to VGA adapter(Last resort) and you could try it on any monitor with a VGA port. You could skip this but at least if you see it on another monitor it can narrow down with what is going on.
Now i just came across this thread and am still not through it but there is a mention of the OP saying it happened with multiple cards.

I'm curious as to if getting a 144hz monitor would help in anyway. I am looking at the Asus VG248QE. I know that Vsync lowers the framerate to match the monitor but if i have a higher refresh rate then would screen tearing be as big of a problem.
