Hi,

I recently bought a used gaming computer from someone, which was working for a while. It stopped displaying anything on the monitor after I made two changes in BIOS settings. I updated the following settings.

  • ■ Power Mode - Changed this from general to power-saver
    ■ Boot Priority - Changed the normal boot order

It appears that computer is not initiating POST. I connected a wired keyboard (USB) to CPU to see if I get NumLock light when computer is going through POST. However, I do not see any light on the keyboard. My monitor stays blank and in power saver mode. Unfortunately, the original owner did not attach speaker to the motherboard and I don't have a way to tell what is going wrong. The following is my hardware configuration.

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4 GHz
    CPU cooler: Noctua NH-C14 140mm x 2
    Motherboard: Asus P8P67 WS Revolution
    RAM: G.Skill Trident X 2400 32GB OR Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600 12GB
Graphics card: EVGA NVidia GeForce GTX 570 12080MB GDDR5 OR Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GT 730
Hard drives: Samsung 830 256GB SSD, Western Digital 2TB, Seagate Barracuda 750GB, Samsung Spinpoint F1 750GB
Power supply: Corsair 1000HX 1000 Watt 80 PLUS Silver
Case fans: Various Noctua fans, replacing standard Lian-Li case fans

This is my first time troubleshooting hardware. However, I read quite a few threads on Internet, other guides like "PERFORM THESE STEPS before posting about POST/boot/no video problems!" guide, and followed the steps listed below:

  • ■ CMOS Reset

    • – Took out CMOS battery for more than 8 hours to reset the CMOS settings
      – Changed Jumper from Pin 1 and 2 to pin 2 and 3 as outlined in motherboard manual.
    ■ Video Card

    • – Pressed Video card hard to ensure that it is fully seated
      – Changed the video card slot to ensure that the PCIe slot is not bad
      – Replaced existing video card with another video card to check if the video card has issue
    ■ RAM

    • – Removed all RAM sticks and tried only one at a time and in each slot
      – Tried Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600 and G.Skill Trident X 2400 ram sticks
    ■ Pressed all cables to ensure that they are well connected
    ■ Plugged monitor to my laptop to make sure that it is not dead
    ■ Kept computer running for while hoping that it will boot into Windows and then pressing power button will turn it off, but that doesn't happen either.

This is a video of what happens when I boot the computer. Please help me troubleshoot the issue.

PS: I do not have extra system to try different PSU, motherboard and processor.
