In building my desktop computer I am planning on using a MSI Computer Socket AM1/AMD APU/DDR3/SATA3&USB3.0/A&GbE Motherboard Micro ATX DDR3 1600 AM1M (I do not know the short name of this board) and I am planning on using an AMD athalon apu. Is this a good setup? I am trying to run windows 7. Possibly windows 8

This is about the best that can be done at that budget, and isn't a bad little rig, for the price, at all.

What is your country and your budget? Are you planning to purchase parts locally or is there an online vendor you are able to buy parts through?

Socket AM1 processors are rather old and extremely low end when it comes to performance compared to current models. If you are not limited to that selection due to it being all that's available locally I'd highly consider going with something more current.

I'm in the U.S and i have a budget of about $300. Would the am3 be more suitable? How about an Fm2

FM2 would be better. What all do you need. Case, motherboard, processor, ram, power supply, hard drive, anything else? DO you need an operating system? Do you need keyboard, mouse, monitor? Do you need a graphics card or do you plan to use the onboard graphics? An FM2 build with minimal requirements is probably possible at that price but if you need everything I've listed, PLUS a graphics card, it won't happen, regardless of the platform you choose. What exactly do you plan to get for that budget?

The budget is for the main parts/ motherboard, processor an aftermarket fan (possibly), case, and power supply. I have not included in the budget the other parts you have mentioned. I will use the onboard graphics
