Cheap backup (redundant) solution for NAS

I have a ReadyNAS 6 x 2GB WD red hard drives with RAID 5 configuration.
This is used as media server as well as backup for computers and tablet data.

Please suggest a cheap solution as backup for this ReadyNAS which will be placed offsite.
I plan to use daily Rsync for backup.

Do you want to do a local copy and physically carry the backup off site or do an internet uplink? Amazon Glacier cloud storage is probably the cheapest cloud storage option but I don't know if the ReadyNAS has a glacier plugin.

It will be a offsite copy (different country), backed up daily using rsync.
I am looking for a non cloud solution.

I don't believe there is a "cheap" non-cloud solution. Another NAS or a Linux server with 10TB of storage is not cheap.

How much data do you plan on backing up offsite?

what I meant was cheapest among the options for non cloud backup.

Right now 2TB, growing at about 1 or max 2 TB per year.

Have you done the calculations to determine if you have enough uplink bandwidth to backup 2TB ?

Yes. with my current ISP, I can survive 2TB a year.

The cheapest solution might be a FreeNAS build with a Celeron CPU. Using ZFS, you could expand your storage pool over time. Start with three 4TB disks.

You will need 8GB of RAM to enable ZFS.

12 x HDS722020ALA330
1 x HP StorageWorks MSA60 SAS/SATA 418408-B21
1 x HP Smart Array P800 RAID SAS/SATA Card w/ 512MB

Setup a RAID 6 (ADG) w/2 hot spares.

Should all cost less than $800.00
